Binge-watching, a harmful addiction, or a harmless pleasure? In my opinion, I certainly think that binge-watching is a harmful addiction. Yes, bing watching is popular but that does not neccaciarly mean it is good for you for example Deloitte’s Digital Democracy Survey found that an astounding seventy-three percent of Americans admit to binge-watching. Binge-watching is not a harmless pleasure but a harmful addiction.

There are many reasons that binge-watching is bad for you, one of these reasons include being depressed, believe it or not, binge-watching makes you more likely to be lonely, depressed, and have less self-control. This was shown when a University of Texas did a study that proved this.

However you might be thinking that binge-watching is supposed to relieve stress, especially when John Mayer (a psychologist) said it acts like a “steel door” but however a study indicates that instead of releasing stress it actually intensifies those negative feelings such as regret, guilt and personal failure ultimately leading to depression since those feelings are associated with a sense of wasted time and inactivity.
