As the world grappled with the unprecedented challenges brought about by the COVID-19 pandemic, the importance of accurate and timely prediction models became increasingly apparent. During my time as a student researcher in the Aspiring Scholars Directed Research Program (ASDRP), I had the unique opportunity to delve into the world of pandemic modeling and contribute to the development of a program aimed at predicting COVID hotspots in future cities.

The Aspiring Scholars Directed Research Program provided a platform for high school students to engage in cutting-edge research and tackle real-world problems under the guidance of experienced mentors. When I joined the program, I was eager to apply my skills and knowledge to make a meaningful impact in the fight against the pandemic.

As a member of a dedicated research team, I collaborated with fellow students who shared my passion for science and technology. Together, we embarked on an ambitious project to develop a predictive model that could identify potential COVID hotspots in cities, enabling proactive measures and resource allocation.

The process of designing the COVID hotspot prediction model was a complex and iterative one. We began by conducting extensive literature reviews to understand the factors that contribute to the spread of the virus, such as population density, mobility patterns, and social interactions. We also studied existing models and their limitations to identify areas where we could innovate and improve.
