Raphael was a wonderful painter in the renaissance and also possesses a wonderful personality. He was born in Urbino, Italy and his father was also a painter like him named Giovanni. Giovanni worked for the duke. His father, unfortunately, passed away when Rapheal was just 11 years old. That placed young Raphael to take over his father’s workshop. Quickly he gained a reputation in their town, he was known as the finest painter in town. In his teens, he also was offered a painting role in the Church of San Nicola. When he was 14 he was appointed by a master painter, Pietro Vannuci, to be his apprentice. Raphael gladly agreed. The apprenticeship lasted for 4 years which provided Rapheal with experience and knowledge.

School Of Athens By Raphael(Image from Here)

His painting “School Of Athens” in which he painted in the Raphael Rooms (present-day name), Raphael rooms are owned by the Vatican Museums. Literally, it shows people who are studying in a school in Athens and there are statues too. Indirectly it tells us the Athens school environment and what people looked like when they went to school. Personally what attracted me to this is the dimension in the art, it almost felt 3d and the unique colors in the painting. The painting took 2 whole years for Raphael to finish and his technique was majorly influenced by Leonardo Da Vinci, he also used oil paint. Raphael was an amazing painter and had a personality just as great as his art.
