What are the main reasons racism occurs?

People may think that there are different reasons for racism, but we are going to be diving into the reasons for racism and it may not be what you think…

There are 7 distinct factors that contribute to racism; factions, categories, the media, segregation, hierarchy, power, and passivism.

The author, Sandra Feder Writes based on Steven O. Roberts’s article, “categories, which organize people into distinct groups; factions, which trigger ingroup loyalty and intergroup competition; and segregation, which hardens racist perceptions, preferences, and beliefs. Simply put, the U.S. systematically constructs racial categories, places people inside of those” This quote explains that most Americans separate themselves from other races and place people into groups labeling them, like stereotypes and this would cause segregation which would cause people only hanging out with people in their group and most times that is the same race and because of this it just stiffens the racial segregation.
